Crankshaft Clearance Adjustment Method

Mar 20, 2023|

Adjustment method: For models that use flanged main bearings, crankshaft thrust bearings, to limit axial movement, there is a wear-resistant alloy on the thrust edge of the bearing that can be scraped. For models that use thrust pads or thrust plates to limit axial clearance, the thickness of the thrust pads or thrust plates can be changed. For the model of inorganic thermal insulation mortar mixer (main bearing and thrust bearing are integrated in the body), it can be solved by adjusting the thickness of the main bearing cap end face gasket. Taking the inorganic thermal insulation mortar mixer as an example, the following describes the methods and steps for adjusting the axial clearance of the crankshaft:

After removing the flywheel and main bearing cap, take out all adjusting shims;

B Without installing shims, install the main bearing cap hole seat into the engine body through the crankshaft shaft end, and gradually screw in the fixing screws diagonally until the crankshaft rotates tightly (that is, the axial clearance has just been eliminated);

Use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the cylinder plane and the main bearing cap (gasket end face). This gap, plus the normal axial clearance of 0.08-0.25.nm, is the thickness of the gasket that should be installed;

Dismantle the main bearing cap, install and tighten the fixing screws of the main bearing cap according to the regulations with the measured gasket of suitable thickness;

Check the rotation of the crankshaft to ensure it can rotate flexibly without obvious axial movement.
