What are the inspection items for engine crankshaft

2. External inspection of the engine. Check whether the engine accessories are complete, whether the main accessories are damaged or missing, and whether there is leakage in the cylinder block, cylinder head, water pump, fuel system, and various oil seals.

3. Check the operation of the engine at idle speed, medium speed, high speed, and each cylinder, observe the exhaust smoke color, determine the composition of the combustible mixture, and determine whether there is oil burning. Check the crankcase vent to see if there is blowby, and determine the fault and preliminarily determine the repair items based on this.

Precautions for engine test:

1. When the engine encounters unexpected situations, such as no fuel injection, no ignition, or automatic flameout, it is important to focus on checking the crankshaft position sensor.

2. After replacing the crankshaft position sensor, you should use the TECH-2A diagnostic tool to perform the crankshaft position system deviation reading and writing procedure.

3. After the crankshaft position sensor is damaged, some car engines cannot be started, while others can be started. This is mainly due to the different control strategies of the engine ECU.

4. For Hall type crankshaft position sensors, the method of measuring resistance cannot be used to determine their performance.

5. When the engine cannot be started using a starter, but can be started using a person or other vehicle traction, the engine and battery are both normal. This is because the crankshaft position sensor is too close to the starter during design, and electromagnetic interference from the starter can affect the normal operation of the crankshaft position sensor.
